Have you ever wanted to hike the Montana Continental Divide trail (CDT) ? Well now you can honestly tell your friends you DID have boots on the ground and you have gone geocaching on the CDT. This cache is located about two tenths of a mile from the parking lot, up a well maintained, but moderately steep trail, which is a portion of the Montana Continental Divide Trail. Just a short few steps up the hill from the parking area, you may spot a large metal "BEAR-PROOF" container. This should be all you need to remind you to always be prepared and bring Bear Spray whenever hiking mountain trails. Also be sure to bring water and stay hydrated. This spot is very close to the coldest recorded spot in the lower 48 states, at -70F (-57C.)
The cache is a small Loc n Loc container with a log and pencil, and a few small SWAG items. DO NOT place swag that will attract animals. Please REhide so other cachers can find it, but so it is not visible to muggles. Due to snowpack this cache may not be available in winter or early spring. Please wear appropriate clothing for caching in Montana.
Cache in, Trash out!
