A geocaching get together to spend lunchtime with like-minded people. Locals and visitors, seasoned cachers and newbies, even muggle plus-ones - everyone is welcome. Come along to discuss all things geocaching, be that the highs and lows of recent caching outings, future plans in the making, stats and challenges you set for yourself, running into dead-ends on elusive puzzles, or anything else on your mind.
Like with other geocache types, I like using my events to point out things I find nice, interesting, funny, weird or otherwise entertaining. I came across Shortbread Day while I was browsing various awareness/appreciation days websites in search of unashamed excuses ideas for adding such a layer to my events. Shortbread is a food item I definitely appreciate so adding that onto the pile of ideas was a no-brainer.
Did you know?
โญ Shortbread is so named because of the high-fat content that makes its texture "short," or crumbly (as opposed to "long", or stretchy). ๐
โญ Shortbread was initially considered a luxury due to the cost of butter and sugar, and it was reserved for special occasions such as Christmas, Hogmanay, and weddings. ๐
โญ The first printed recipe was from a Scotswoman named Mrs McLintock in 1736. ๐
