As melin boy was fond of spending New Year's Day in this former prison with his fellow geobuddies, we thought it a fitting place to hold an event in his honour.
Please come along to the "David Protheroe - Wetherspoon" in Neath to help us pay our respects to a man who will be sorely missed in the caching community. Food and drink will be available to order from the usual menu if required.
Melin boy sadly died unexpectedly in mid-October. For years, he had been a major part of caching in South Wales.
He had a find count of 15,505 caches
He had hidden 609 caches - which made him #1 here in South Wales and #51 in the UK
He had hosted 83 Events - again, the most of anyone in South Wales, making him #53 in the UK
He also took on the mantle of hosting the Annual South Wales event, one of the busiest events of the year, from 2017
All of this, ably helped by his partner in crime, Shyalot
We warmly welcome everyone who knew him, had found any of his caches, or even those of you who didn't know about him before, to come along and listen to the various stories and tall tales we have collected about him over the years.
If you can't attend (or even if you can), and would like to write any notes about your memories, then we would love to read them.
We hope to see you there ~ The Cachekeepers
