Repeating a fun series I did in Salt Lake City (and surrounding counties), this time basing the Sun at the clock tower in Riverfront Park. Eastern Washington Solar System (EWSS) caches are places approximant the correct distance from the “Sun”, using the scale of 1 mile equals 1 Astronomical Unit, or the Mean Distance from the Sun to the Earth.
Venus it the second planet from the Sun and sixth in the solar system in size and mass. No planet approaches closer to Earth than Venus. Because Venus’s orbit is nearer the Sun than Earth’s, the planet is always roughly in the same direction in the sky as the Sun and can be seen only in the hours near sunrise or sunset. When it is visible, it is the most brilliant planet in the sky.
Mean Distance to the Sun is 108,209,475 km/0.72 AU
