Geocache Description:

Welcome to event #12

Port Campbell is a specal place to us. We have been visting here as long as we have been together. In fact, it was the first place we ever camped together. Over the years we have had many trips here for scuba diving, camping, geocaching, sight seeing and just all round relaxing and good times.

Port Campbell is a small town on the Great Ocean Road. The port and the town are named after Captain Alexander Campbell, a whaler and colonist of the Port Fairy region. The town was settled in the 1870s, with the first wharf being built in 1880. Port Campbell is now a popular tourist destination for visiting The Twelve Apostles, located 12 kilometres to the east of the town and the Port Campbell National Park, as well as maintaining a small crayfishing community. There are many sightseeing oportunities nearby including the Port Campbell Discovery Walk.

Why did we start these CUBTW events? To explore different areas via geocaching. Whether it be a river, a lake, the ocean or a waterfall there is something special about being by water so we decided to combine them. Thanks for being on our journey. Hope you can make it.
