The Gateway Wetlands are managed by the Bolingbrook Park District but are a federally protected wetland. If you've ever had the pleasure of walking the trail that runs through the wetlands, you know what a treasure this piece of property is.
The Director of the Bolingbrook Park District advised that a fair amount of trash collects at the points where the Wetlands meet the surrounding roadways. Please join me in helping to clean up the area. There's limited street parking so it's best to park across the street within the shopping center lot. There's a stoplight at Boughton and Feather Sound Drive that makes for a safe crossing.
Trash bags will be provided. I will hand out trash bags near posted coordinates. Please bring your own gloves and grabbers. Most important of all: wear sturdy footwear because you may be hiking in and around tall grasses on unlevel ground.
