CITO 2025, Season 2 is upon us! Geocachers can earn a souvenir by attending or hosting a CITO event between September 1 and November 30, 2025.
If you're something of a procrastinator and haven't yet earned your 2025 CITO Season 2 souvenir, here's your last chance! Delphi Trailhead Park provides a large parking area, a shelter, and access to the Delphi Historic Trail system and Sunset Point (the place where the old Wabash & Erie Canal Towpath ends at the confluence of Deer Creek and the Wabash River). This CITO will provide some stunning views of the river and an opportunity for some more adventuresome trash collection than normal...
Note that this CITO has a higher D/T than normal. Fievel and I were at this park not too long ago and noticed a large amount of trash spread across the rocky outcrops below the park shelter and in Deer Creek below. That's right - we'll be scaling the cliffs and wading the creek during this clean up! But don't worry - if you aren't so adventuresome, we'll need support staff to help shuttle the refuse from the collection area back to the parking lot, plus there is plenty to pick up along the more level trails.
We'll meet at 2 p.m. in the parking lot at the posted parking coordinates. I'll have trash bags and some gloves, as well as a truck to haul the trash away, but I recommend bringing hand santizer, trash grabbers, bug spray, sunscreen, Technu, water, and any other personal hygiene products you want while wandering through a wooded area. Our goal is to clean up the shelter area and the trails leading from the suspension bridge to Sunset Point. Note, the trail is NOT paved.
