Geocache Description:

Amateur baseball, often called "town ball" in Minnesota, is indeed a cherished tradition with over 30 leagues and more than 300 teams across the state. The Minnesota Baseball Association (MBA) governs the adult post-high school level, organizing state tournaments in three classes: Class A (primarily Twin Cities metro teams), Class B (larger outstate towns and promoted Class C winners), and Class C (smaller communities). These tournaments culminate in championships over Labor Day weekend, with qualifying through regional playoffs.

The Stearns County League is one of Minnesota's premier amateur baseball leagues under the Minnesota Baseball Association (MBA), known for its deep roots in central Minnesota's "town ball" culture. Established with influences from German Catholic immigrant communities in the late 1800s, the league features over 30 teams county-wide, making Stearns County an amateur baseball hotbed (home to the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Cloud). The league is split into two divisions—North and South—each with 5 teams playing a 14-game regular season followed by playoffs.

The Elrosa Saints, from the tiny central Minnesota town of Elrosa (population ~200), are a cornerstone of amateur "town ball" in the Stearns County League North Division (Class C under the Minnesota Baseball Association). Playing at the picturesque Saints Field (also called Matt Bauer Field), they've built a reputation for fierce rivalries, dramatic comebacks, shutdown pitching, and a passionate fanbase that packs the stands for summer nights under the lights.
