9th Dec - Removing and tidying at Netheridge
Parking: There are lots of options for parking, the headline coordinates can have about 5 cars, then also see the relevant waypoints. Rea Lane is very narrow and so if you would prefer not to worry about parking then Sims Lane may be easier, if a bit of a longer walk to get to the meeting point. If you do attempt Rea Lane and find both suggested parking areas are full then you will need to park further up the lane and walk down.
Where: Find us at the headline coordinates for 1300.
What: Not yet sure what we will be doing, could be more coppicing, bramble removal, willow removal, or even providing stakes and guards for the newly coppiced trees to stop them being munched by deer! Please bring along gloves and if you have them, shears, loppers and a saw.
How: The warden will be there providing guidance. We ask you to bring your own gloves and if you have them tools, so if you have loppers, and a saw please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have them as the warden will have a supply too, but we will need you to log that you require tools.
If it has recently rained the site does tend to hold water and so wellies are advised.
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by Gloucester County Council insurance as long as you are working under the warden's instruction.
Dogs: This is a nature reserve with Swan's nesting on the pond, in addition to wild deer roaming the area. If your dogs are reactive to wildlife then they unfortunately are not able to come to this site.
Lastly please make sure you bring along your own refreshments, it can be thirsty work!
