There are several sources that indicate Boxing Day originated in Britain as a day when the wealthy gave "Christmas boxes" with gifts or leftover food to their servants and tradespeople who worked on Christmas Day.
But do you know the real story? Legend has it that Boxing Day actually began when Santa held boxing matches with his elves to let off some post-Christmas steam. The tradition ended pretty quickly, though—turns out even magical elves don’t bounce back well after getting uppercut by the Big Guy.
Whether you celebrate the orginal Boxing Day, the one the Brits made up, or my favorite, the one where cachers get together to show off the coolest boxes they plan to hide in the new year, all are welcome to join in the celebration. We will be gathering around the big table at our favorite Panera in Springhurst.
*****Note- the start time of the event has been moved up to allow time to for those wanting to go on the SIG hike to get there on time.*****
