Pandora's Box is a story in Greek mythology. The most common version states that the gods gave her husband a box (a jar in earlier versions) and was forbidden to ever open it. His wife, Pandora, was overcome by curiosity and opened the box, letting out all the curses upon mankind. By the time she closed the box, the only thing left inside was hope (sometimes considered deceptive expectations).
In modern times, the idiom has come to mean something that seems worthy which is really a source of unforseen problems.
Geocaching now has its own Pandora's Box. If you dare venture to open it, you must first solve this puzzle. Go to Pandora's Box in Wikipedia and scroll down to the Renaissance version and brush up on your Latin.
