Zemgales klusajā mežā, netālu no Vecumniekiem, atrodas Staņķu ezers — tumšs, apaļš un noslēpumains kā acs, kas mierīgi vēro meža dzīvi. Ezers ir kluss, reizēm tik kluss, ka šķiet — pat vējš noliec galvu, ieejot tā tuvumā.

Reiz Strupausis pastaigājās gar kādas bedres malu, kur vecais koks bija gāzies senākas vētras laikā. Tur, zem biezām saknēm un mīkstām sūnām, viņš atrada nelielu dabas izveidotu aliņu — mazu, tumšu un pasakaini noslēpumainu vietu, kur neviena cilvēka acs parasti neieskatās.
“Šī ir īstā vieta noslēpumam,” rūķis noteica un pēc brīža tur ievietoja mazu kastīti, precīzi tur, kur saknes kā pirksti turas pie zemes un sūnas kā sega pārklāj ieeju.

🌿 The Secret of the Staņķi Lake Root Hollow
In the quiet forests of Zemgale, not far from Vecumnieki, lies Staņķi Lake — dark, round, and mysterious like an eye, quietly observing the life of the forest. The lake is calm, sometimes so still that it feels as if even the wind bows its head when approaching.
This place is ancient and full of tales. Forest dwellers say that the lake is home to Ūdensvējš, a tiny, silvery spirit that awakens only at dawn, when the mist still sleeps on the surface. But in the forest, a little farther from the shore, lives Strupausis, a mischievous gnome who knows every root, tree hollow, and crack in the earth.
One day, Strupausis was walking along the edge of a pit, where an old tree had fallen during a past storm. Beneath the thick roots and soft moss, he discovered a small, naturally formed hollow — tiny, dark, and enchantingly mysterious, a place where human eyes rarely look.
"This is the perfect place for a secret," the gnome declared, and after a moment, he placed a small box there, precisely where the roots grasp the earth like fingers and the moss blankets the entrance like a cover.
To ensure that only true seekers would find it, Strupausis left a riddle:
