Now that I'm nine, I thought it would be fun to try something different. Great-grandma (ohjoy!) told me about many kinds of caches, and I decided I'd like to own a night cache. It made it easy for me to choose the name for the cache.
It is best to read the instructions before you start.
A night cache is a mystery cache you don't have to solve. The stated coordinates are for the trailhead. Parking is right next to it. You find the cache container by following glints placed in trees or posts. Papa and ohjoy! helped me because they are taller. It took me some time to decide exactly where I wanted it to be.
You will need a good flashlight or headlamp. Letting you light shine at eye level makes the glints shine back at you. It's good to have a spare light and to be certain the batteries are good.
Go to the trailhead and follow these directions:
- stand at the beginning of the little trail and look for glints in trees on both sides of that trail. Walk down the trail looking for the next glint, watching your step as you go so that you don't trip.
- each time you see a glint, look for the next one and then go to it. If you can't see one, continue on the trail you are on.
- soon you will see two orange/brown glints in the same tree. That means that you should stop and look to your right (west) to see two glints in a tree off the trail.
- walk to the off-trail tree with glints on it, and you will see the cache container hanging behind the tree.
- sign you name on the log so that you can claim a find for this cache.
Have fun! Please tell me about your hunt in your log. I like to read your messages.
