Geocache Description:

Jager’s Walk #2 – Middle

The cache, a small camo-taped plastic pot, is one of three hidden along this wonderful 500m long walkway with its easy access and spectacular sea and mountain views which skirts the rocky southern edge of Fish Hoek Bay. It is hidden in the middle section near Skellies Pool, a popular small naturally enclosed rocky tidal pool.

It was hidden in recognition of ByteCache’s cache GC43E4M Catwalk Memories which was hidden on 30/12/12 and archived on 7/10/20 after some 68 finds, garnering 5 FPs in the process.

It replaces a previous cache near here - GC928DJ FHB #8: Jager's Walk - Middle which was hidden on 4/11/20 and archived on 7/12/25 after 15 finds and 1 FP.

Your main challenge will be muggles, so timing and stealth will help here. Although the walkway is used during all daylight hours, early morning and late evening are always much quieter. So please try your best be as discreet as possible when retrieving and replacing the cache - thanks!

Please refer to GC77Z4 Jager's Walk #1 - West for background info on the walkway and suitable parking and starting points.

The given coordinates are for Step 1 of this mystery-multi combo cache of two parts . . .

Part 1: Complete the jigsaw puzzle accessed by clicking the image at the top of the page. This will reveal the formula for the final coordinates.

Part 2: Complete the 6 steps of the multi below to find the values to enter into this formula and calculate the final coordinates. Then use the GeoCheck box link to confirm these are correct - and receive a useful hint!

Please note that the cache description contains the above external link to a jigsaw. Although it is from a well-known source, it has 'not been checked by Groundspeak nor by the reviewer for possible malicious content, and access to the site is therefore at your own risk'.

To Access the Cache:

a) If doing as a one-off: park at or near the off-road parking area @ S 34 8.545 E 18 26.026 and head for the beach access steps and tunnel under the railway about 50m to the south-east.

b) If doing the whole walk (all 3 multis): park either a) at the Fish Hoek end of the walk (as above) or b) at the Sunny Cove end @ S 34 8.643 E 18 26.197 and cross over the rail bridge.

To Find the Cache:

Step 1: head along the walkway to the posted coordinates @ S 34 08.564 E 18 26.079 the location of a blue concrete bench adopted by a Guest House which uses a word to describe Fish Hoek which has A letters.

Step 2: continue heading SE until you reach the area of Skellies Pool @ S 34 08.586 E 18 26.119, and note the following:

a) The metal handrail leading down to the pool has B supports

b) There are C stone steps leading up from the boardwalk to an upper viewpoint section with several benches

c) Looking at the Skellies Pool sign, you will see 8 circles advising what is allowed/not allowed at the pool. Of these D are coloured red

d) Now look at the plaque on the huge granite boulder left of the steps which commemorates someone who was Mayor for 1E years

Step 3: move on around 30m to S 34 08.596 E 18 26.137, the location of a stone post which is probably a disused drinking water fountain. On the top of this is a plaque to the memory of Mr Hacking who has an unusual 4-letter Nordic-German first name. The additional letter of the 5-letter similar sounding English name has an alphanumeric value (A=1, B=2, C=3 etc) of F
