I often combine other fun activities with the fun of finding and hiding caches that fulfill Texas Winter Games task requirements. One of the additional fun activities is to visit one or more of the many Christmas markets in Texas.
Tomball - German Christmas Market
Tomball works hard to put together our market and festival with events and performances for neighbors, friends and guests of Tomball. So much so that Tomball’s German Christmas Market has been recognized by travelmag.com as one of the “20 BEST CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN THE U.S.”.
You do not have to be German to enjoy this festival! Beginning with one Oompah band on a flat-bed trailer sixteen years ago the festival has become an annual tradition in Tomball and one of the best music/street festivals in Texas. Every year, on the very last weekend in March, festival-goers break out their Lederhosen and Dirndls “Go German” for the area’s largest festival celebrating the heritage of the original German families that settled in this area beginning in 1840. In other words, in the case of German heritage, there is much to celebrate in this part of Texas!
The Tomball German Festivals are held twice a year, located on the old downtown streets of Tomball, TX near 201 S. Elm St., Main St. (FM 2920) and Market St. It is a music/street festival celebrating German and ethnic heritage with 4 stages of live music performances “happy music for happy people”, special contests, ethnic and festival food, beer, wine, street vendors, all kinds of German souvenirs and clothing, arts, crafts, antiques, Heritage Center, carnival, strolling music makers, street performers, and much, more. Admission, parking, and shuttle are FREE!
