This is the 79th in a series of midweek regular meets in the centre of Leeds hosted by Sam539, matthewgibbs and myself.
This is an informal get together of gecachers to chat about all things caching and not. A good chance to escape the family and come celebrate Christmas with fellow geocachers or bring the family with you!
The event will be at The Victoria Hotel, 28 Great George St, Leeds LS1 3DL from 18:30 to 20:30, but I'm sure a few people will stay longer than that. We're a friendly bunch, so cachers old and new are welcome. If you haven't been to an event before, drop me a message beforehand and I'll look out for you. Hopefully we'll be obvious to find, but we'll be in the bar area somewhere.
It's a pub with A FASCINATING PAST and has just been reopened by Kirkstall Brewery.
In 1989 they were given special recognition by Leeds Civic Trust for our 'splendid Victorian features and contribution to city life'. Built in 1865, the 'Vic' accommodated people attending the Assizes Court at Leeds Town Hall. It offered 28 bedrooms, dining rooms, private sitting rooms, a billiard room, and public meeting rooms. Despite all that history we are lucky to be here today as in 1973 this marvellous historic building had to be saved from demolition by a public campaign.
How to get there:
By train - Leeds railway station is about a 10 minute walk away.
By bus - Leeds City Bus Station is a 15 minute walk away. Many busses also stop nearby on the Headrow and Woodhouse lane both of which are a short walk from the venue.
By car - The closest multi storey is probably Trinity Leeds, which is £4.00 after 17:00 and around a 10 minute walk away, there isn't very much on street parking at this end of Leeds.
The venue offers food and drink, including beers on tap.
I look forward to seeing you there!
