Calling veteran cachers, newbies, and everyone in between! I'm a newbie who joined many years ago, but I only found 25 hides before health issues interrupted my game. This past summer, I got back into it with my grandkids, and decided I would complete all of the Antrim County Caches. What I soon learned is that there are a large number of skill levels and challenging puzzles I didn't even know existed in this game... and there are many new things to learn and areas to visit!
This past summer, I was fortunate to meet two geocaching veterans (legends in my book) who happened to be seeking my area hides. We met up for what became my first fellow-cachers meeting! I've since worn them out with my endless questions, so I thought it was time to "enlarge my territory of geofriends" and glean wisdom from their combined years of experiences.
What better way to meet more legends and also encourage new folks to get involved in this hobby than to hold a "grab & gab" (coffee & chat) event! Heck, that name might even catch on!
My biggest struggle was puzzles, but truth be told, I need a better understanding of everything from taking coordinate readings to navigating the geocaching.com website! I didn't even know there was a geocaching toolbox until a few months ago, and I still don't have a clue about deciphering a paragraph of random letters! What good is a box full of tools if you dont even know the name of the tools, much less what they're used for?
Regardless of whether you're a new cacher, somewhat experienced, or a veteran, I invite you to come grab a coffee at M-88 Morning Grind at the listed coordinates. Bring your questions and experiences along with a willingness to crack some newbie strongholds! We can take it topic by topic allowing veterans to 'take the floor' or we can sit round-table and throw questions and answers around like we're playing ping-pong. I'm sure either way, much knowledge will be shared, fun will be had, and puzzles will be unscrambled as the result of this casual event.
Bring a pen, paper, and any questions you have. Veterans, bring your knowledge and patience. (Remember when you had to ask what a preform soda bottle was, or thought a bison tube was a holding cell for an animal?)
While this is open to all ages, be mindful, it is a business, so if you bring children, you are responsible for their activity around the merchandise in the shop. And, though not required, it would be appreciated if you purchased a beverage or snack as the owner's are allowing us free use of their space!
I have a new cache hidden on site, as well as several more around the area. Be sure to grab the ones you can get to in the winter!
RSVP APPRECIATED, though not required.
Message me with any questions, or if you are interested in explaining a particular aspect of puzzles & challenges! I'll give you the floor and my undivided attention!
