ザンギリ頭をたたいてみれば文明開化の音がする－。山下公園（横浜市中区）の一角に、モアイ像のような石像がある。その名も「ザンギリ」。横浜が「西洋理髪発祥之地」であることを示した記念碑だ。１４０年以上の歴史を重ねてきた理容店もある。老舗の責任、職人の誇り、地域愛。時代の波にもまれながら、さまざまな心意気が伝統を支えている。
ザンギリは高さ約２メートル、重さ約２トンの巨大な御影石を顔の形に彫ったもので、目の部分に「ＺＡＮ ＧＩＲＩ」、口の部分に「ＹＯＫＯＨＡＭＡ」と刻まれている。作者は木村賢太郎さん。県理容環境衛生同業組合が創立３０周年記念として１９８９年に寄贈した。
花崗岩にさまざまな色がある理由は、含まれている鉱物の種類と割合、そして形成過程が異なるからです。
1. 鉱物の種類の違い
* 石英：無色〜灰色 → 明るく透明感のある見た目
* 長石
- カリ長石：ピンク色・赤色
- 斜長石：白色・灰色
* 雲母
- 黒雲母：黒色
- 白雲母：銀色・淡い色

2. 鉱物の割合
* カリ長石が多い → ピンク色・赤色の花崗岩
* 石英や斜長石が多い → 明るい灰色・白色の花崗岩
* 黒雲母が多い → 暗い色で黒い斑点の多い花崗岩
3. 微量元素の影響
* 鉄（Fe）やマンガン（Mn）などが少量含まれるだけで、
黄色・茶色・赤色の色合いが強くなることがあります。
4. 冷却環境と結晶の大きさ
* 地下深くでゆっくり冷えるほど結晶が大きくなり、色のコントラストがはっきりします。
* 冷却速度の違いによって色の分布が変わることもあります。
5. 風化と酸化
* 鉄を含む鉱物が酸化すると、表面が赤色や茶色に変わることがあります。
* そのため、同じ花崗岩でも表面と内部で色が異なる場合があります。

Smacking a shaved head makes the sound of modernization. In a corner of Yamashita Park (Naka Ward, Yokohama) stands a Moai-like stone statue. Its name is "Zangiri." It is a monument marking Yokohama as the birthplace of Western barbering. The barbershop here boasts over 140 years of history. The responsibility of a long-established business, the pride of its craftsmen, and love for the community. While weathering the tides of time, various spirits sustain the tradition.
Zangiri is a massive granite stone, roughly two meters tall and weighing two tons, carved into the shape of a face. The words "ZAN GIRI" are engraved for the eyes and "YOKOHAMA" for the mouth. It was created by Kimura Kentaro. It was donated in 1989 by the Yokohama Prefectural Barbers' Environmental Hygiene Association to commemorate its 30th anniversary.
Granite has many different colors because of the types and proportions of minerals it contains, as well as how it formed.
1. Differences in mineral types
* Quartz: colorless to gray → gives a light, transparent appearance
* Feldspar
- Potassium feldspar: pink or reddish
- Plagioclase feldspar: white or gray
* Mica
- Biotite: black
- Muscovite: silvery or light-colored
→ The overall color depends on how these minerals are mixed.
2. Mineral proportions
* More potassium feldspar → pink or red granite
* More quartz and plagioclase → light gray or white granite
* More biotite → darker granite with black specks
3. Effects of trace elements
* Small amounts of elements such as iron (Fe) or manganese (Mn) can add yellow, brown, or red tones.
4. Cooling environment and crystal size
* Slow cooling deep underground allows large crystals to form, making color contrasts more visible.
* Different cooling rates can affect color distribution.
5. Weathering and oxidation
* Iron-bearing minerals can oxidize, turning the surface reddish or brown.
* This is why the surface color of granite can differ from its interior.
