🇸🇮KAPELICA MARIJE KRALJICE
Pod sedanjimi freskami so bile nekdaj starejše.

CHAPEL OF MARY THE QUEEN
The chapel is built of masonry and has a four-pitched roof. Its interior was painted in 1914 by Matija Koželj. In the past, the chapel was owned by the Križ baron Oton Apfaltrer.
The chapel is dedicated to the Queen of Angels. On the side walls are depicted Ruth in Boaz’s field and the Lord’s disciples plucking ears of grain, while on the altar wall there is Mary, Queen of Angels. On the vault, within a medallion, is the name of Mary.
The renovated chapel, restored through the CRPOV program, was blessed on September 5. 1998 by the parish priest of Komenda, Nikolaj Pavlič, who explained the meaning of the paintings and the chronogram (beneath the central fresco) in the Chapel of the Holy Cross. The Male Choir of Komenda, conducted by Tomaž Kremžar, performed at the ceremony.
The paintings by the artist Matija Koželj were restored by the academic painter Andrej Hirci. Beneath the present frescoes there were once older ones. This was discovered during the uncovering of part of a fresco in the Chapel of the Holy Cross. They were too poorly preserved to be restored and it is also unknown what they depicted, as well as the exact age of the chapels. According to the assessment of Prof. Franc Kokelj, they are approximately 270 years old.
