Spanning the mighty Wolastoq River, the Burton Bridge is a striking steel through-arch structure that carries Route 102 between the rural community of Burton and the Maugerville area, just a short drive from Oromocto.
Opened in 1973 to replace an old cable ferry service, this bridge stretches over the wide river, offering scenic views up and downstream and serving as an important link across one of New Brunswick’s major waterways.
This cache represents the Bridge component of the Trifecta COAP Challenge.
From this location, you can enjoy:
- Picturesque river views — especially lovely in morning light or at sunset.
- Boating and fishing activity on the Saint John River.
- A reminder of the region’s transportation history .... from ferries to modern engineering.
Whether you’re here for the view, the history, or the COAP caching challenge, the Burton Bridge area provides a tranquil and rewarding backdrop for your adventure.
