Geocache Description:

Thanks to geronimo_lukas for the geocache (gift)!🎄

Christmas in Kaunas has changed together with the city itself.🎄
In the Middle Ages, it was a quiet and almost invisible celebration, centered on Midnight Mass, when the light of a single candle mattered more than decorations. In the 19th century, as Kaunas became a fortress city, the Christmas tree tradition arrived with German merchants and officers and slowly took root in local homes. During the interwar period, when Kaunas served as the temporary capital of Lithuania, Christmas moved into the streets - Laisvės Avenue, shop windows, and cafés - yet the solemnity of Christmas night remained unchanged. War and the Soviet era attempted to silence, rename, and remove Christmas from public life, but in Kaunas it never disappeared, surviving quietly in churches and family homes. Today, Christmas in Kaunas is celebrated loudly and creatively once again, but beneath the lights and trees lies a long memory of the city - one that this cache "Forever! Christmas"  invites you to uncover.
