I looked at my stats and realized that I have NEVER attended a CITO in January. There is also tends to be a lot of trash along the shorelines of lakes that can't be picked up by kayak. This sounds like a great opportunity to kill two birds with one CITO! If the ice is thick enough, we can walk the shoreline and pick up some trash along Lake George. I scheduled this event in late January to give the water some time to freeze. But if the ice is not thick enough, we may have to switch to plan B. I'll make an announcement on the cache page the morning of the event to let you know what the plan we will be using
Date: January 24,2026 PLEASE NOTE THE NEW DAY OF THIS EVENT
Time: 10:00-11:00am
Plan A: If the ice is thick enough, we will meet at the posted coordinates at 10:00am. We will take a quick picture and then head out onto the ice to walk the shoreline and pick up trash.
Plan B: If the ice is not safe to walk on, we will meet at N41 25.860 W90 49.595 We will take a quick group picture and then walk the trails and pick up trash along the trails
Yoiu bring the yak tracks and I'll bring the trash bags!
Always use good judgement when walking on ice. Be sure to cache within your limits.
