Our world is an amazing place filled with amazing creatures. This is one of a series of caches based on some of the creatures I have had the privilege to see in the wild. All the photographs on these pages are from my personal collection.

The bighorn sheep or bighorn, is a species of sheep native to North America. It is named for its large horns. A pair of horns may weigh up to 30 lb. Males typically weigh 128–315 lb., are 35–41 in. tall at the shoulder, and 63–73 in. long from the nose to the tail. Females are typically 75–201 lb., 30–35 in. tall, and 50–62 in. long.
Sheep originally crossed to North America over the Bering Land Bridge from Siberia; the population in North America peaked in the millions, and the bighorn sheep entered into the mythology of Native Americans. By 1900, the population had crashed to several thousand due to diseases introduced through European livestock and overhunting. As of 2026, there are approximately 42,700 bighorn sheep in the United States. At lease one subspecies of bighorn sheep is listed as endangered.

This cache requires a special TOTT to retrieve and replace, if you don’t think you can replace it, don’t take it down in the first place! Be a courteous cacher, don’t spoil it for others. Your name must be on the log to claim a find. Just seeing it is NOT a find.
This is a very public location, the best tool to use is the one that is the least conspicuous. The cache is not tethered so please leave the ladder in the car and use something that will reach it without calling too much attention to yourself. I would like the cache to last awhile for everyone to get this rather unusual D/T.
