Geocache Description:

The cache is placed in the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area with permission granted by the City of Branson Parks and Recreation, by Parks Director Cindy Shook.

Zihuatanejo, Mexico is the name of the village Andy Dufresne landed once he escaped from Shawshank prison.  Originally, the town was very tiny and unnoticed, but after being mentioned as a quiet paradise in The Shawshank Redemption, curious tourists flocked to see if the town was that great. Now the town is a booming resort community, in no small part to The Shawshank Redemption.

(!)  Andy states to Red that the Mexicans say that the Pacific Ocean has no memory, and that is where he would like to go. Andy describes in detail how he would like to open up a resort for tourists and fix up an old fishing boat, which he will use to take his guests out on the ocean in the evenings. A concerned Red angrily dismisses Andy's wishes, saying that he can't be doing this to himself. Andy then says that if Red ever gets out, to find a hayfield near Buxton with a big rock wall, and there is something buried for him underneath rock that doesn't belong (black volcanic glass). .a post card to Red (his closest if not only true friend) to meet him there.  There is a cache here in the park that mimics that experience.

Fun fact: this last scene was added.  We weren't supposed to know whether Andy and Red ever met again.  The director and producer of the film strongly believed that Andy and Red deserved a happy ending, and that this ending would resonate with the audience. They deserved a "happy ending". The studio wasn't sure, but they filmed it, not in Mexico, but in St. Croix USVI.  I think they all made the right decision.  Steven King believes that adding this ending to his novella actually makes the story better, adding a strong sense of hope to the story.

What you will be looking for:  The container is a small plastic container that contained peaches.  It is hand painted and has a word at the top, which is also had painted.  There is plenty of room for TB's, I have placed one of my own for travel.  Three Gps's had the readings from 15-3ft accuracy.  It is OFF TRAIL, but not by much.

As always, watch for critters, and watch for holes.  The leaves make it deceptively even.
