Geocache Description:

Welcome to the First Annual Oceanside Lego Geocaching Event. I hope there will many more, but if not at least you can say you were there when it all began!!

Before I begin, let me recognize that International Lego Day normally occurs every year on January 28th, but with that being a weekday this year I have chosen to celebrate Lego Day on a Saturday so more folks will have an opportunity to attend.

Lego was invented by Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Kristiansen, who founded The Lego Group in 1932, initially making wooden toys then evolving to plastic bricks in 1949, with the iconic interlocking design patented in 1958 by his son Godtfred, leading to global expansion, themed sets, minifigures (1978), Legoland parks, and becoming a massive toy empire built on creativity and quality. The name Lego is derived from the Danish for "play well" which is "LEgt GOdt".

In my years as a cacher I have come across several Lego-themed caches, with likely the most creative one being the now-archived GC82ZJ3 Legoooooo to the Woods! Unfortunately there are no photos of it on the cache page but it deserved every one of the 66 favourites it received in its 5 years of existence.

I will try to get hold of some Lego to bring along but having no kids or grandkids of my own I might have to pry some from the hands of a nephew or niece.

If you have some Lego at home that you could bring with you for other attendees to play with, or if you have Lego projects built by you or your family members, bring those along as well. We promise to handle them with care. If we have enough loose Lego on hand I propose that we create a "Lego geocache container", either working individually or collectively as a group. I can bring a few small prizes if we wish to vote on the Lego structures.

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

[We plan to set up in the covered picnic shelter as we have done before. If that is unavailable the we will use the Gazebo instead.]
