It's the last Saturday in January, that means it's time to have a quick Geo-Nerd-Fest at the Rutgers Geology Museum!
In extended Flash-Mob style, let's meet at 11:30am outside of the Rutgers Geology museum. This is museum is my favorite building in New Brunswick, the museum is small, but it's jam packed with lots of interesting things related to New Jersey Geology. Inside they host fossils found in New Jersey, a dinosaur trackway from Towaco, NJ, a fully articulated mastodon skeleton from Salem County, NJ. and a Fluorescent Mineral Exhibit from Sussex County, NJ. If you've never visited the State Geology Museum, you're missing one of New Jersey hidden gems.
The posted coordinates (N40° 29.909' W74° 26.797') are for the entrance to the Geology Museum. We'll meet in front of the museum for a 1/2 hour
Parking options should be plentiful. Metered parking is available along College Ave., Hamilton St. and Easton Ave. You can also pre-pay for parking in one of the Rutgers University lots.
Rock on!!!
