Geocache Description:

This multi starts at the entrance to the old section of the cemetery.
The cemetery was established in 1863.
This Multi will take you for a short walk around four graves, but there are many more of interest here.

Way Point 1 - John Anderson (George) Robertson
S36 53.780 E145 13.873
Sarah Ann Robertson (nee Chapple) was one of the first white children born in Avenel.
George was one of the guides on the expedition which returned the remains of Burke and Wills to Adelaide
ABCD = What year did they return the remains to Adelaide?

Way Point 2 - Arthur Wellesley Bayley
S36 53.767 E145 13.864
Arthur Bayley was the discoverer of gold at Coolgardie WA. Having made his fortune he bought "Avenel Estate" a grazing property located on the Hughes Creek.
It shouldn't be hard to locate his grave.
His headstone reads "His life was short in years, but long in deeds"
EF = How old was he when he died?

Way Point 3 - Cai Shen Tian
S36 53.754 E145 13.829
There would have been many Chinese diggers who worked on the Victorian goldfields. This was the only grave I could find in this cemetery.
Cai Shen Tian was from Guangdong Provence in China.
GHJK = He was interred here in the mid to late, which decade?

Way Point 4 - John 'Red' Kelly
S36 53.776 E145 13.817
Ned Kelly's father, John 'Red' Kelly, aged 45, was laid to rest here on the 28 December 1866.
The Kellys lived at Avenel from 1864-1867.
There is a lot of information about them around the town.
LMPQ = When was John born?
