Geocache Description:

Where: Starbucks, upstairs level of Cineworld in Fountainpark

Time: 6pm - 7pm

When: Friday 6th Feb, 2026

Something a bit different for events this time. 🙂 This event is to commemorate one of the Palindrome days this year, which happens rarely and is quite fascinating to see in action without realising it 😲

'palin dromo' (Greek) - meaning 'running back again' or simply meaning -

Palindrome:

A palindrome is a word, phrase, verse or sentence that reads the same forward or backwards.

This means that today's event date 6th Feb 2026 is therefore a palindromic date 😁 (6/2/26)

Facts: There's been a Palindrome week every year since 2011, every century has 9 years with 10 Palindrome days in a row. These years are always in the 2nd decade of the century. The next one UK Palindromic date with the longest date format is in 2030. Today's event is the SHORTEST date format in the States for the whole year.

American Palindromic dates this year:

There are obviously other Palindromic dates this year other than this event. There's one just a few days before this event, on Feb 2nd 2026. The rest start in June, the first one in June is June 2nd,  and all the 20s in June are Palindromic - 20th June 2026 would look like Month/Date/Year, or 6/20/2026/6202/02/6) and after June 20th, the rest of the dates are actually shorter. After June finishes this year, the next date is in July 2027.

Souvenirs

No souvenirs that I know off, but I imagine there might be one later in the year with the other Palindromic dates. This event will still qualify for a Treasure if you're collecting those however. :)

Some examples of Palindromes:

Anna

Civic

Deleveled

Hannah

Solos

Stats

Tenet

Kayak

Level

Madam

Racecar

Radar

Rotor

Sagas

Minim

Kook

Wow

Noon

Top Spot

Rotator

Palindrome Sentences:

Poor Dan is in a droop.

Never odd or even.

Too bad I hid a boot.

Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Madam, I'm Adam.

So many dynamos!

And so on lol. :)

Bonus fact:

The world's longest palindromic word is the onomatopoeic TATTARRATTAT, mentioned in Ulysses (1922) for a knock on the door.

That's enough about Palindromes lol, so feel free to come along, bring Tbs with you and share some stories 😎

Hope to see some of you there!
