Leaving Port Lincoln and heading off to get some kayak caches on the islands nearby heading slowly up to Elliston for the night. Stopping on route to grab some caches if they are bigger than a micro in size.
this ended up been a saga to get to. All my fault. to much over time resulted in some poor planning. I came and did the nearby island cache, paddled back to the car. Got the rest of the nearby caches. I thought you had to get to this one via car and a short hike. No private property that way. drove back to the " Ricky Bates Reserve " assuming it had a boat ramp. No it ends in a dead end and cliffs higher than my kayak is long. I thought about the problem. I decided after looking at the problem that i could lower my kayak down the cliff, wedge it in the rocks, climb down the cliff in to the waist deep water, unwedge the kayak and paddle to this cache. It worked. Even the 1.4 km paddle one way was easy. Nice views of the cliffs, the old oyster beds and then a short scramble up the hill. Paddling back i was hoping the dragging the kayak up was as easy as down. It turns out it was, even if the kayak has a few more marks on it ( you wouldn't notice them anyways ).
