CZ Juditin most v troskách - 3. 2. 1342

Juditin most byl první kamenný most v Praze a stál přibližně v místech dnešního Karlova mostu. Spojoval Staré Město s Malou Stranou a sehrál důležitou roli v rozvoji středověké Prahy.

Byl založen roku 1158 za vlády krále Vladislava II. a pojmenován podle jeho manželky Judity Durynské. Stavbu pravděpodobně vedli zahraniční, zejména románští stavitelé. Most měl románskou podobu, byl užší než Karlův most a na obou koncích byl chráněn mostními věžemi. Dodnes se na malostranské straně dochovala Juditina věž.

V roce 1342 byl Juditin most vážně poškozen povodní a postupně zanikl. Na jeho místě byl v roce 1357 zahájen stavbou Karlův most, který převzal jeho funkci.

Na eventu se můžete těšit na kratší historické okénko, takže doporučuji přijít na čas. Případným opozdilcům mohu krátce shrnout.

EN Judith Bridge in ruins - February 3, 1342

Judith Bridge was the first stone bridge in Prague and stood approximately where Charles Bridge stands today. It connected the Old Town with the Lesser Town and played an important role in the development of medieval Prague.

It was founded in 1158 during the reign of King Vladislav II and named after his wife Judith of Thuringia. The construction was probably led by foreign, mainly Romanesque builders. The bridge had a Romanesque design, was narrower than Charles Bridge, and was protected by bridge towers at both ends. Judith's Tower on the Malá Strana side has been preserved to this day.

In 1342, Judith Bridge was seriously damaged by flooding and gradually fell into disrepair. In 1357, construction began on Charles Bridge, which took over its function.
