Geocache Description:

SpongeBob CachePants

So who is this SpongeBob CachePants and how on earth did he come up with the name?

Way back in January 2005, SBCP and family took up geocaching. He let his kids choose a geocaching name for the family and this is what they decided on. Like most cases, the kids lost interest and the dad was stuck with the name. But this name and this person became a legend, especially in Pikeville, in eastern Kentucky, in southern West Virginia, and southwest Virginia. As of this geocaching being placed, SBCP has logged more than 19,000 finds and more than 400 hides. But does this make you a legend? No, not really. What SBCP has done for the geocaching community does indeed make you a legend. He was awarded geocacher of the month (very few people have been recognized for this), has hosted several events including the annual Geocaching International Film Festival. But most notable was co-hosting the hugely successful and popular Hatfield and McCoy Events that cachers from all over attended. He and fellow cacher Wendy did a an outstanding job putting this servies of events on, and not only promoting geocaching but also economically helping the cities of Pikeville and Williamson.

SpongeBob CachePants is a friend to all who meet him.

I placed this geocache as a little gratitude to him for all he has accomplished for our geocaching community. When you log this geocache, if you have a picture of good ole SpongeBob CachePants it would be terrific if you posted it with your log!
