Geocache Description:

Plateia Sakellariou, or Sakellariou Square, is a well-known urban area in Elefsina, Greece's West Attica. This square, which is close to the main thoroughfares that link the waterfront to the inner neighborhoods, is an important meeting place for the neighborhood and a symbol of the city's rich modern past. The square, which bears the name of Admiral Alexandros Sakellariou, a prominent Greek naval commander and politician with connections to the area, has an open, paved design and is encircled by a variety of residential and commercial structures that define the local architectural style. The site offers a unique local atmosphere away from the main tourist routes and serves as a transitional point between the busy city center and the more sedate residential areas.
