Mt. Gilead Cemetery is home to a large number of tent graves (also called comb graves), many of which are over 150 years old. The purpose of this type of grave in the 1800's was to serve as protection from domestic animals (cattle and hogs) as well as from wild animals. But some also just liked it for its looks.
Logging Requirements:
1. The posted coordinates will take you close to a tent grave that has a white marker behind it. (It is the only one that has this). Message me with the name on the marker and what War he fought in.
2. Take a photo of yourself or a personal item in front of the Mt. Gilead cemetery sign. Upload the photo with your log. Do not upload a photo of the marker.
