Geocache Description:

The Healey Angel mural is a large public artwork painted on the exterior wall of Healey Deli, a local deli/cafe in Whitworth, in the borough of Rochdale.  It is a striking piece of public art aimed at promoting mental health awareness and community strength, blending artistic beauty with a powerful message of care and supportThe mural depicts an angelic figure surrounded by vibrant flowers, designed to project empathy, hope, compassion, and emotional support.   It was commissioned as a tribute to mental health awareness and community resilience, with the intent to encourage conversation around mental health, reduce stigma, and remind people that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
The project had support from Rachel Ward of Healey Dell Nature Reserve, and has been widely praised by local residents and campaigners as a heartfelt gesture toward supporting those facing emotional challenges

It was created by Jamie Buckley is a local mural artist and painter based in the Rochdale area of Greater Manchester. He has become known for creating large-scale murals that celebrate local culture, iconic figures, community resilience, and social causes. He grew up in Rooley Moor and attended Falinge Park High School, said he took up spray painting during the COVID-19 lockdown after previously working as a DJ and painter/decorator.

His artwork appears in events like Rochdale’s Common Walls International Mural Festival (part of Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture programme), including pieces such as a mural inspired by local singer Lisa Stansfield. He’s also created community-focused murals, such as the vivid design at Balderstone Library’s garden and a mental health-themed piece at Healey Deli in Whitworth, celebrating empathy and community strength.
He painted a mural honouring the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing on the Bees Knees lounge bar in Oldham town centre

His murals often blend portraiture, bold colour, and cultural references, aimed at celebrating local identities and shared experiences.
