Mississauga's First Pedestrian Overpass (Kinda...)
This geocache is located on Mississauga’s first pedestrian overpass, kinda...
In 1958, a pedestrian bridge was built at this location over the Queen Elizabeth Way near Dixie Road. At the time, the QEW had become a busy, high-speed route that divided neighbourhoods on either side. The bridge provided a safe way for residents to cross on foot and quickly became an important community link.
The original structure remained in use for more than 60 years before being removed in 2023 as part of major interchange reconstruction. A modern pedestrian bridge now stands in its place.
So, is this cache really on the first pedestrian overpass in Mississauga?
