IMPORTANT NOTE: THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE, FISHERIES, AND PARKS NOW REQUIRES A USER'S PERMIT FOR ALL ACTIVITIES IN A WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA. A YEARLY (JUNE - JUNE) PERMIT WILL COST YOU ABOUT 17 BUCKS. THEY CAN BE PURCHASED ANYWHERE YOU BUY HUNTING LICENSES.

Does a bear Really sit in the woods? Well, at this cache, several do. Teddy Bears that is. This cache is loaded with Teddy Bears of various sizes. These include one extra large bear that I BAREly (pun fully intended) managed to cram in there, the TY Beanie Baby Peace (remember when these were worth something?) and, of course, my latest Lighthouse Travel Bear.

The cache container is an extra large ammo box. If you are not familiar with this size, each side of the lid has a latch which must be unfastened. Please take time to re-conceal the container.

I would like to keep this a teddy bear theme cache as best as possible. Inside the box are plastic bags of different sizes to keep your Teddy Bears clean and dry. For those of you who just can't BEAR to part with your favorite Teddy, I've also included an assortment of more standard trade loot.

The Logistics: Choose your route correctly and it will not be necessary to enter any posted area. Where I parked my car was about 2/3 mile from the cache. The sign at the trailhead here advised NO Vehicular Traffic. Since other bike trails are marked, I think this one means foot traffic only. From Mid-March through September, your hike will be about a third of a mile longer. Take your time and enjoy the walk. Deer and Turkey are common.

WARNINGS: 1) During warmer weather, you definitely want to be on Snake Alert. 2)There is a minimal amount of serious bushwhacking at the end. 3. You are bound to pass by at least a couple of self-serve permit stations on the way in. The sign on the stations say "All HUNTERS must get a permit card (no cost). On the area's brochure however, it states "All VISITORS must get a permit card. Please grab one of these cards to display in your windshield to avoid a hassle.
