Geocache Description:

This is an adventure that requires bushwacking and preparedness. High clearance vehicle and hiking required. 4000' elevation.

Welcome to Crooked River Canyons: Pickett. This is a remote area with fantastic canyon views and plenty of wildlife; deer, elk, and diamondbacks included. When placing this cache, we happened across a small herd of wild horses. Maybe your fishing skills will be better than mine.

Please come prepared. Bring water. Don't go alone. Only well trained dogs and children should attempt this. You will be descending a canyon with some tight spots.

If still interested, proceed east of Prineville on the Post/Paulina hwy and turn right at Camp creek. Stay left at the fork. There are a number of rough approaches to Furnace Waterhole, where you will begin your hike. Hopefully the map (photo) will help.

This is also a Wilderness study area. I like wilderness for protection. I'd rather just keep it a secret except for my friends.

Enjoy
