This is the first “approved” cache in Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park! You’ll see some great views and, since it’s a ZenBabe cache, get a workout in. The first cache location is at the Four Corners section of the park. There you will find coords for the second and final cache which is within a mile of the first. Maps are available at the Portola Parkway and Glenn Ranch Rd entrances to the park. It is a multi-cache.
NOTE: ABSOLUTELY NO bushwhacking is needed to do this cache. Stay on the marked trails! The final cache is within arm’s reach.
The easiest route for this cache starts from the Santiago Equestrian Center off Santiago Canyon Road (N 33 41.712 W 117 37.940) and is what the cache rating is based on. It’ll be around 2-2.5 miles round trip, depending on your route selection.
For a longer hike or a great mountain bike ride, start at the park entrance off Portola. If you start there, it’s around 3 miles one-way to the final cache. There are multiple ways to return to your car from the final cache so make sure you grab a map at the park entrance. If you start here, the terrain rating is 3.5 stars.
You’ll see some great views of the Santa Anas and you are right across the way from the caches on the Santiago Truck Trail.
