Follow the world-famous Pacific Crest Trail from Lake Morena to locate the cache just below the trail and between two huge boulder and bedrock viewpoints. No bushwhacking nor rock-hopping to speak of if approached properly, otherwise rethink your approach or else do be careful. Altitude at the cache is 3235 feet.
May 15, 2004. Replaced and relocated the cache today. The original container was Muggled some time ago. There's a brand-new logbook awaiting FTF honors. The ammo-can is stuffed with all sorts of great cache swag. There's a wonderful view of Lake Morena campground and the lake-bed from two high points that surround the cache location. This cache was conceived to recognize a square-dancing RV group that calls themselves the Traveling Turtles. Why? We have no idea. Many of the Traveling Turtles have discovered and now enjoy the delights of Geocaching. Of course the Traveling Turtles are a bunch of oldies. So this cache was placed to spice up their annual RV outing at Lake Morena by getting them out from under their rollup awnings and onto the trail for a stretch of their wimpy old legs. We thought about making the cache wheelchair accessible but decided otherwise. Well, actually we know the group to be pretty darned intrepid considering their age and condition. Truth is the cache is nicely placed and intended for anyone that enjoys Geocaching. Just enjoy this stroll along the Pacific Crest Trail to a pair of satisfying viewpoints. Please keep an eye out for any lost Travelling Turtles that might have wandered too far away and gotten lost. The other Turtles would never notice that a few of their own kind came up missing. More to eat, you see, at their nightly potlock dinner. Please enjoy and take good care of this cache. No spoilers please. Please don't try to make things easier for other searchers. Also please replace the container within the natural hidey hole just as found. We had a grand time replacing the cache. Looking forward to your expressive log entries.
