Ridges in the area can be confusing. This multicache is designed to: limit bushwacking, eliminate mountain-goat inclines, and keep everyone on the right track. A topo map may be useful. Coordinates at the top of the page are for Microcache #1, a film canister containing coordinates to Microcache #2. Microcache #2 contains coordinates to the Geocache site. Please replace the Microcaches as you found them.
The terrain is flat. The distance is 2 miles, round trip.
1.) Park at Brecksville Stables (41*18.036N 081*36.411W).
2.) Hike easterly on Meadows Drive for about 0.2 miles, until you reach the Ottawa Point gate. Here you will pick up the blue-paint-blazes on the trees, marking the Buckeye Trail (BT), which joins the road to Ottawa Point picnic area.
3.) Follow the BT through the picnic area parking lot. This is a reservable area. Please do not use the facilities. Please respect the privacy of any picnicers.
4.) Microcache #1 is near the *J* tree, a small beech tree marked with a blue-blaze.
5.) To find Microcache #2: turn left (after getting coordinates); go off-trail, find the route of least bushwacking; and, locate a large 3-trunked White Oak, close to the far edge of this ridge.
6.) To find the Geocache: (after getting coordinates) hike the deer runs that follow the ridge's edge. Keep the edge of the ridge to your left (or in sight) until you're within about 250 ft of the Geocache. Then follow the GPS.
7.) The Geocache is a standard size ammo box at the Northeastern terminus of this ridge.
There is no litter anywhere on this ridge. If you spot some litter, consider it from one of us. Pack it out. Please bring a trash bag. This is a nice hike anytime of the year. Winter vistas are refreshing.
In addition to the trinkets-of-the-trade, the cache contains an optional plant survey exercise, which is described in the cache. A plant field guide would be useful, but not necessary. Any uploaded images will be greatly appreciated.
