Geocache Description:

This is one way you can do a wedding. Narration by Team Sagefox.

Step One – What? Our friends and fellow geocachers, Roadcow and his significant other, decided to get married so they figured to sneak away, get married and tell people about it after the fact.

Step Two – Where? They decided on Nevada and it must be a drive-up window ceremony. Well, O.K. They went on-line and found The Little White Chapel in Las Vegas that features the drive-thru Tunnel of Vows. Doesn’t get any better than that.

Step Three – When? Year-end holiday break. They knew also that they wanted their long-time friends and fellow desert travelers, known on these pages as Team Sagefox, to be their witnesses. We make annual pilgrimages together to find the remotest parts of the desert that we can get our two Vanagons into and, hopefully, back out of.

One Slight Problem. Year's end is the time of year that Team Sagefox needs to be in Seattle. Well, O.K.. We’ll just leave Seattle early, drive to Sacramento International, fly to Las Vegas, get the deed done and fly back to Sac. "Oh no!" they proclaimed in unison, "We need your van there too!" Well, O.K… These are our best friends and they know what they want so we’ll be there! The Sagefox van logged 3300 miles and some very excellent geocaching along the way. Got there in time to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks from our campsite in the hills 11 miles away.

Step Four – The January 1st To-Do List: Early drive to the Tunnel of Vows to confirm that both vans could be placed side-by-side at the drive-up window. Check. Place a micro cache near TLWC. Check. Shower and dress at the Hostel across the street from TLWC and then go get married. Check. Cruise the strip to see the sights, find virtual caches, win enough money at the slots to cover the LWC fee, camp the night in the Tropicana parking lot. Check. In the morning: Place The Las Vegas Wedding Cache, go to the 24 hour Kinkos to create the wedding announcements, mail the announcements, then head out to Death Valley. Check.

Simple as that! You can visit Roadcow's web page for the travel story and photos and also follow the adventures of the companion travel bug The Honeymooners.

The NC Flyers have been dedicated to this cache from the begining. Enough so to make the pilgrimage to the original site and replace the container. Dr. Webe has agreed to watch over this cache so with the good Doctor's help we are back in business.

Here is the contents list for the new container.

  • A first place NCFLYER finder medal
  • 2nd and 3rd place finder ribbons
