There is a lay-by at N 51 01.454 W 001 45.864 on the northbound side of the A338, just south of the power lines. A track leads up the hill from the southern end of the lay-by, but although it is used by walkers it's not marked on the map as a right of way. It's the most direct route, but becomes quite overgrown though passable in summer. Beware the ditch at the entrance to it. There is a right of way somewhat ambiguously waymarked from that end of the lay-by across what is usually a crop field, and another right of way from the A338 a little north of the lay-by under the power lines. If you use the latter, take care with children and dogs as the verge is narrow and the road fast. Whichever route you take they all join up, and it's about a mile from the lay-by to the cache, mostly uphill.
When you come out into an open field about two thirds of the way up, please don't strike diagonally out across the field straight toward the cache and wear a new path there. Stick to the right of way, which runs along the side of the field up the hill and then around the wood clockwise.
Whichever way you approach, don't cross the hillfort, go around it. You don't need to climb any fences. There are gates near the cache, further clockwise around the fort, if you need them.
There is a trig point at N 51 01.194 W 001 47.044 near to the route to the cache, just inside the wood but close by the fence.
The cache is under tree cover, so GPSrs may not be accurate. The container is a tupperware type 2 litre box, in a cammo bag. Please cover the cache well when re-hiding it.
