Geocache Description:

Get ready to go on your own Tropic/Herald Hunt with this cache!

Welcome to the Tropic/Herald Hunt Tribute Cache!

This is a multi-part cache designed to work like one of the famous South Florida Tropic or Herald Hunts from the Miami Herald. I have given this cache a 5 star difficulty rating because it involves areas that are separated by a good distance, and if the puzzles are NOT solved correctly, you will NOT have any chance at finding the final cache site.

At no point during this cache will you have to wonder onto private property. You may want to have some money available for parking, etc., as you Hunt for this cache.

*** FIRST ONE TO FIND THIS CACHE GETS THE $10 THAT IS HIDDEN WITH THE CACHE! ***

*** TO OBTAIN CREDIT FOR FINDING THIS CACHE, YOU MUST EMAIL ME WITH THE NAME OF THE SOUTH FLORIDA ATTRACTION THAT IS LOCATED ACROSS THE STREET FROM WHERE THE FINAL CACHE IS HIDDEN! ***

The original cache contents are as follows:
- Two pens with bubble blowers (need to supply your own bubble liquid!)
- One pen with a soccer ball on time (coutesy of BellSouth)
- Two American flags
- One Scooby Doo toy
- One copper wristband (retrieved from another cache in Connecticut)
- One rubber-eraser fighter plane
- One DirecTV pin
- One glow stick (retrieved from another cache in Florida)
- One golf ball (retrieved from another cache in Utah)
- One toy dinosaur (retrieved from another cache in Utah)
- One BattleBots Happy Meal Toy
- Two David from "Lilo & Stitch" Happy Meal Toys
- One "Stitch as Elvis" from "Lilo & Stitch" Happy Meal Toy
- One Wheresgeorge.com $10 bill
- Log book and pen

DO NOT GO TO THE COORDINATES LISTED FOR THIS CACHE! THEY ARE ACTUALLY COORDINATES TO THE AREA FOR 2002'S HERALD HUNT IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI BUT ARE *NOT* CONNECTED TO THIS CACHE!

The mechanics of this puzzle go as follows:
- Solve the first four puzzles
- Use the answers from the first four puzzles to get to the four puzzle sites
- At each site, follow the directions that were located next to the puzzle site coordinates to determine what you need to do to solve the puzzle. All puzzle answers will be numbers.
- Take your solution for each puzzle site and compare it to the clue list. If it does NOT appear there, it is not the right answer! Try again!
- Rearrange your puzzle site solutions into ascending order and look at their corresponding clues.
- Put the clues together to find the coordinates to the final cache location!

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will ONLY be going to five locations total for this cache! The four puzzle sites and (if you're lucky enough) the final cache site.

=====================
First, to locate the puzzle sites, answer the following initial questions:

1) It's Elections time in Florida, and you know what that means! It's time for the Sunshine State to prove that it learned its lessons from the 2000 presidential election fiasco. To improve things, Florida got rid of the punchcard system and, for the most part, installed new electronic voting systems in most of their counties. The results of this upcoming elections can likely be summed up as follows:
A) Lower voter turnout
B) People punch holes in the screens with the old voting syluses
C) Both above answers and Gore wins (despite not running)!

2) You're a famous, retired baseball player. You broke many records and are widely believed to be one of the best to have ever played the game. You have a son who wants to make as much money off of you as he can before you die. You die. What happens:
D) You are cremated and have your ashes spread in the waters where you loved to fish
E) You are buried in the ground with a shrine built honoring your achievements
F) You are a frozen popsicle, being held on the possibility that your head can guest star in a future episode of Futurama on Fox

3) For atleast one South Florida city, it's just so pase that its bus benches have not been updated in...well, OH so long! For you, a city administrator, what's the best way to update your bus benches:
G) Make 'em black metal...perfect to honor the unrelenting South Florida sun, as well as grilling burgers when you're hungry
H) Put 'em in places where no buses stop! They'll be cultural attractions! Who needs buses!
I) Both.

4) As an new airport director of a major airport, you want to improve the retail operations to include name brand stores & restaurants. The existing boring shop & restaurant owners do not want to go and hire lobbyists. The county manager, after listening to the lobbyists, wants to keep things the same. The best way for the mayor to handle this is:
J) Agree with the airport director and allow the updates
K) Agree with the county manager and keep the existing shops
L) Like all the sports team owners would suggest...build a new airport!

Your answers:
1) _____
2) _____
3) _____
4) _____

=====================
Now match your answers with the following coordinates. Go to the coordinates indicated and then follow the instructions next to the coordinates.

Puzzle D
--------
Around you are flag poles containing flags from various countries. Looking north, you will see a flag with horizontal stripes. They don't like the country that has the flag with the circles on it located to its right. They are jealous of the circles, because people found them more exciting. So horizontal striped-flag country declared war on flag with circles country. How many countries are caught in between these two?

Puzzle F
--------
You are in a small grassy circle and a small musical festival is being held RIGHT NOW, entitled "What is Wrong is Right!" You see three small stages which each have performers playing music for the festival attendees. On Stage 1 is a one-man band, with a drum on his back, a harmonica in front of his mouth, cymbals, the works, entitled "Miracle Max"; his name is somewhat appropriate because he'd need a miracle to sound anywhere near decent. On Stage 2 is a man playing a viola, a woman playing a violin and another woman playing a cello. They are playing a wonderful piece my Mozart and call themselves the "South Florida Quartet". On the last stage (Stage 3) is a jazz band dressed in all red clothing named "Blue Man Group", just belting out the tunes for EVERYONE to hear; they're so loud that they almost drown out the other performers...which is good news for those passing by Max.

What's wrong?
If you think it's Stage 1, go here: 25° 44.775' N 80° 15.500' W (What year is on the plaque?)
If you think it's Stage 2, go here: 25° 44.733' N 80° 15.504' W (What year is on the plaque?)
If you think it's Stage 3, go here: 25° 44.746' N 80° 15.501' W (What year is on the plaque in the first paragraph?)

Puzzle L
--------
This park has been part of South Florida's community for a very long time. There's lots to do here. Plus you can do walking. Lots of walking. And math. Walking and math. That sounds like fun!
Go here: 25° 43.653' N 80° 19.479' W (What's the bottom number?)
Then here: 25° 43.683' N 80° 19.509' W (What are you limited to?)
Then here: 25° 43.684' N 80° 19.495' W (And through this door is number...)

Take the first number, subtract the second number and multiply the result by the third number to get the answer.
