UPDATE February 9, 2003
Thank you all for coming. Counting Spinwebby and myself, we had 23 total show up on a February day in Iowa. Without your participation, this would not have been as much fun for me. This was a first opportunity for me to watch people hunting for one of my caches, and that was pretty neat.
I'd like to thank SpinWebby and The Shorts for helping pass on their knowledge and helping with leading the cache treks. Thank you to Sally and Steve and the rest of folks at the Science Center. And again, thank you one and all for braving an Iowa winter and sharing your knowledge and experience with other Geocachers.
Based on popular demand, I have made Top of the Hill... it's very own cache so be sure to log a find on that one. Also you may log this cache as a find 3 times - once for attending the class session, once for finding West Cache and one for finding East Cache.
Join us at the Science Center of Iowa to learn more about geocaching and benchmarking. If you don't have a GPS, no worries, come along and learn what GPS features you might want before you buy. If you do have a GPS, bring it and the owners manual for some tips and tricks to make it more useful. Please register on the Great Plains Geocaching web site.
We will be meeting February 8, 2003 at the Challenger Room inside the Science Center at 2:00 PM. We will also have access to the entire Science Center including the Eyes on Earth travelling exhibit. The Science Center is giving us the group discount admission rates (20% off).
I have hidden 3 caches of varying terrain and difficulty within walking distance specifically for this event. Dress up warmly and we can go cache hunting in groups. If you bring a trade item or two, you can participate in the prize swap.
