Geocache Description:

High Rollaway Cache

Located along high bluff overlooking the Manistee River, this area was named after the practice of staging logs to be rolled down to the river for transportation to the mill during the logging era in Michigan.

This is a good spot for a family hike along the North Country Trail. Park near the end of the main road for the best views of the surrounding country side (N 44029.089', W 085033.516'). The cache is about a one mile round trip hike long a fairly level and well-groomed trail.

Prime viewing is during the fall color tour but nice throughout the year as well.

When you reach your destination, look for a half-buried 2-gallon water cooler with a white top. There is plenty of moderately cool junk inside.

Update: This area has undergone some improvements by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Now there is improved parking and a couple of viewing platforms. As a result, the previously recommended parking area is no longer, but I'm sure you will figure out a better place easily enough.
