Paradise Canyon 2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Jabberwock: I suspect that the BLM has come along and removed the cache without notifying me since it was located in the Red Cliffs Reserve area and was not along one of their approved trails even though it was along a very nice pre-existing foot trail. After the Red Rocks over St. George cache disappeared at about the same time as this one and when it was replaced by the owner the BLM contacted them asking them not to place one there. I just wish they would contact us first before removing them. Of course I have no proof of this but ranting makes me feel better.

Geocache Description:

This is the 2nd cache I've placed in Paradise Canyon and it is replacing the first one that was stolen.

This cache is located along one of my favorite hikes in the Red Cliff's Desert Tortois area. To reach the cache you will have to hike about 1/3 mile on a fairly easy trail. Park along Highway 18 and check out the trail map at the entrance to the area. The parking area is located on your left as you head north and is about 0.3 miles north of the last stop light (Snow Canyon Pkwy) and has recently been made larger and surrounded by a nice wood fence.

Once you start down the trail you will see a favorite climbing wall for many climbers in the area. After you pass the climbing area you will need to turn off onto a foot path on the right marked by a small rock cairn. Follow this path which will take you very close to the cache.

If you want to enjoy a nice hike after finding the cache, continue on the trail towards the northwest and you can go all the way to the rim overlooking the ball fields (or farther). If you keep your eyes open you may see some desert tortois farther up the canyon, I have seen a few in the area over the past few years.
