Geocache Description:

A math cache that might take you two trips to find. Some will find the difficulty rating of 4 stars justified. Some will not. If you use the hint then it should probably have a lesser rating. A knowledge of sine, cosine, and/or tangent is essential in solving this one, unless you have a GPS unit that can do it for you. There are some steep hills to climb. You can expect a hilly walk of about 1 mile.

Start your hunt at the parking lot just east of the intersection of Theodore Wirth Parkway and Glenwood Avenue. From 394, exit at Penn Avenue. Go north about 6 blocks to Glenwood Ave. and turn left. Go about 1/3 mile to the parking lot which will be on your right. From Highway 100, go east on Highway 55 to Theodore Wirth Parkway and turn right. Go south until the first stop sign, then turn left. The parking lot will be on your left.
In the summer there's a beach here, but now it's just a winter wasteland!

On this hunt, you will visit 3 waypoints. At each waypoint will be clues. The first two waypoints will direct you to the next waypoint, and also give you the distance, in meters, to the final cache. The third waypoint will just contain the distance you are from the final cache. It's up to you to pinpoint where the actual cache is located.

NOTE: When doing the math for this cache, use the coordinates you figured out on this worksheet, not the coordinates you measured with your GPS unit in the field.

The posted coordinates for this cache will bring you to the first waypoint below. You will be able to park within about 50 feet from here. Have fun and good luck!

1) Determine the year this park's name was changed from Glenwood Park to Theodore Wirth Park. Subtract the number 1565 from that year. This gives you the distance to the final cache in meters. Next:

Take that same year, subtract the number 1149 and insert the result into these coordinates and advance:

N 44 58._ _ _
W 93.19.272

2) You should now be standing near a large structure. Determine the date this building was dedicated. Take the year of it's dedication, subtract the number 1676. This gives you the distance, in meters, to the final cache. Next:

Take the month/day of this building's dedication and insert into these coordinates and advance:

N 44 58.567
W 93.1 _ . _ _ 4

For example, August 24th would become 8 2 4.

3) At this location you will just find a very small tupperware container containing the distance, in meters, to the final cache.
Note: It is not necessary to cross the barbwire fence to find this small container. Still can't find it? Read the spoiler for a better hint.

Note: When I did the "test-run" for this cache, I came up with a 3 meter difference between the cache's actual location and what I calculated; no biggy :).
