Geocache Description:

Rolling hills

"Fort Chadbourne was established October 28, 1852 by companies A and K of the Eighth United States Infantry. The fort was named for 2nd Lt. Theodore Lincoln Chadbourne who fought and was killed in the Mexican War in the Battle of Resaca de la Palma. Fort Chadbourne is one of the frontier forts established to protect the settlers moving west. Other forts located in the Texas Forts Trail Region are Fort Mason, Fort McKavett, Fort Concho, Fort Phantom Hill, Fort Griffin, Fort Richardson, and Fort Belknap. Make a point to tour the Texas Forts Trail to see each fort site in their own unique settings." Taken from (visit link)

We (3 close friends and I) hid this right before dark, so we didn’t get a chance to check out the Fort. Start at the office building or the East Barrack ruin. This is a very easy hunt. We just wanted give ya’ll an history lesson. Also, the Fort is only open during daylight hours.

We left:
3 music tapes:
Poison
Oak Ridge Boys
Chaka Khan
4 Berry Teabags in Zip-Loc bag
“Ender’s Game” Novel (used)
Dayminder (a day planner)
Gemini/Goodyear Discount Card
