The cache container is a traditional-style large ammo box. It is technically possible to reach this cache from any direction, it just depends on whether you're in wellies or waders!
If you'd like to park as close as possible, there is plenty of on road parking in Old Basing. Alternatively, there is a public car park signposted if you drive down Barton's Lane. There's also a pub called Barton's Mill and it is great in the Summer to sit in the sun, with your favourite tipple, watching the river and the ducks.
I would advise you to take some welly boots as it is really boggy, even in summer; if you're attempting this in Winter you're likely to need waders. To find the cache, you will need to do a Robin Hood / Little John across a river on a log. Once past this, congratulate yourself and head off towards the cache coordinates. If you have survived, treat yourself to a walk around Basing House.
Some history about the site can be seen at https://www.hampshireculture.org.uk/basing-house.
