Geocache Description:

You should use a map of this area because there are many roads previously used for mining and logging. Easy walk from parking area.

Beautiful scenic drive in more historic prospecting and mining country with a bird’s eye-view of the Deer Lodge Valley. The hills were alive with wildflowers when the cache was placed. A high clearance vehicle is recommended on this one and you’ll probably need 4WD when the road is wet. The last couple of miles are pretty rough driving. We parked at an abandoned strip mine (WGS-84 N46 deg 23.263 min, W112 deg 34.722 min) and walked about 100 yards down the ridge to the "cache tree." The cache is a small ammo can in an old tree stump with new limbs growing on it. The cache elevation is 6538’.

Contents of the cache include candles, neon chaulk and small tools.
